From 7 April 2025, Royal Mail introduced new pricing across its standard First and Second Class services. These changes are part of Royal Mail’s review cycle and apply to both personal and business users.

The updated rates are:

  • 1st Class stamp – £1.70
  • 2nd Class stamp - 87p
  • 1st Class Large Letter - £3.15
  • 2nd Class Large Letter - £1.55

Other services, including Signed For and parcel deliveries, have also been adjusted.

For individuals and businesses who post regularly, these increases can have a noticeable impact over time.

A practical way to keep costs down

Royal Mail’s stamp prices are fixed, but your postage spend doesn’t have to be. Buying discounted, valid postage is one of the most straightforward ways to reduce ongoing costs, especially if you send mail frequently.

At The Postage Shop, we stock authentic Royal Mail stamps and sell below face value. These stamps are unused, fully valid, and can be used just like those bought directly from Royal Mail or the Post Office.

For regular users, buying in advance and in bulk can help smooth out the effects of future price changes and provide more predictable postage costs over time.

Staying prepared

Royal Mail infer that only barcoded stamps are valid for use. However, non-barcoded Christmas and Special stamps (i.e. pictorial stamps issued to commemorate anniversaries or events) continue to remain valid.

At The Postage Shop we offer both barcoded and valid non-barcoded stamps at discounted prices. Using us is a simple way to reduce and manage costs without changing how you send your mail.
